A selection of metal songs (mosty death & black) on lovecraftian themes. The master of horror has always been a great inspiration to the metal scene and lately, with the rise of more extreme genres, it has only increased a little more. The Great Old Ones (ancient gods of the abysses in Lovecraft's mythos), the Necronomicon (an unholy book and another creation of Lovecraft's twisted mind credited to ancient arabic poet Abdul al-Hazred circa 730) and the recurring theme of evil possession developped by Lovecraft in his novels had to have an impact on metal, and they did!
I hope you'll enjoy this selection with famous bands such as Black Sabbath, Metallica, Rage, Entombed and Therion and more obscure ones such as Dawn Of Relic, Disincarnate or Arkham.
Entombed - Clandestine
Dethklok - Awaken (Mustakrakish)

This sounds very interesting. I'm a huge Lovecraft fan. In fact, I recently posted several Lovecraft audio books, and a few other Lovecraftian inspired posts on my blog (http://digitalmeltd0wn.blogspot.com) if you're interested in checking them out. I'm trying to get as many Halloween/horror related posts in as I can before Halloween hits. Would you mind if I reposted this on my blog? I would of course give credit where it is due, and provide a link back to your blog.

Sure, you van use my post and links on your blog as long as you credit "baistophe" as the source.
Also, you can add us to your links.
Keep up the good work!
This is awesome thank you! Lovecraft fans might want to seek out the track "Mother of Abomination" from Cradle of Filth's Nymphetamine album. It starts with a large choir chanting "Ia, Ia, Cthulhu Ftaghn!" and sounds incredible. That being said if you had to choose only one CoF song for this compilation Cthulhu Dawn was the right choice, much better track overall.
Oh, and I personally think that Primus' cover of Metallica's "The Thing that Should Not Be" is much heavier and far superior; just my opinion.
Is this just edited down from the Cult of Cthulhu comp?! It looks like every track was taken from that one and you even forgot to change the album title on one track. Bad form, man, especially when you're demanding credit when somebody re-posts it without crediting the original. How many times have you done this on your blog? Weeeeak.
Searching for this for some time now - i guess luck is more advanced than search engines
Please re-up ... cheers mate
Guess I'm a bit slow to find your blog ...
