"ONE"
Hammers of Misfortune is a Progressive Metal band from San Francisco, California. Their sound incorporates various elements of folk metal, doom metal and power metal. It's the main project of John Cobbett, also guitarist of Ludicra. The original lineup consisted of members of L7, GWAR, Malefice (Washington D.C.), Slough Feg and the aforementioned Ludicra.
The band has released four albums to this day, all of very high quality, displaying what I feel is true Progressive Metal a.k.a. Metal that has a strong 70s feel, trippy songs and just the necessary amount of "heaviness". It's not, thank god, a constant display of technical achievement and complex song structures like most Progressive Metal acts do. Hammers of Misfortune may not be as big as Dream Theater are but they certainly deserve your attention and I hope that "One", Baistophe's introduction to this talented band, will leave you hungry for more.
Butchertown (edit)
note: the player contains a low bitrate version of the "Butchertown" song. It sounds much better in the downloadable file.
