Sloy was a French noise rock/post-punk band from Béziers which released three excellent albums in the 90s. Often labeled as the French Shellac (probably because master producer Steve Albini was at the deck for their first two releases) and sharing similarities with bands such as Jesus Lizard, Devo , Pere Ubu or early Talking Heads, they never got the success they deserved. Two minor hits (Pop & Idolize) and a reputation that went beyond French borders (PJ Harvey introduced them to the world on the BBC) are the proof of their potential. Ten years after they called it quit, Sloy remains one of the best indie bands that ever came from France. This "baistophe" is a tribute to their talent as well as an occasion to catch up on a peculiar and talented act. Enjoy!
